The Louisiana Chapter has developed a robust Technical Session designed to keep consulting foresters informed, inspired, and ahead of the curve. From a welcome by Louisiana’s State Forester to nationally recognized economist Dr. Loren Scott’s outlook on the forces shaping our markets, the morning sets a powerful tone for the day.
Participants will explore the ecological and management significance of the Mississippi River Delta and the Atchafalaya Basin through expert perspectives from Louisiana State University and The Nature Conservancy. The afternoon will feature timely policy and industry updates from the Forest Landowners Association and the Southern Loggers Cooperative then continue with federal-level insights and emerging project discussions. Whether you're most interested in markets, policy, science, or stewardship, this Technical Session delivers the local knowledge and broad connections you need to navigate today’s forestry landscape with confidence.
Step into the heart of south Louisiana on this unforgettable field tour, proudly curated by ACF's Louisiana Chapter. Attendees will enjoy a guided swamp tour through cypress-tupelo wetlands, offering an up-close look at the ecology, wildlife, and working landscapes that define Louisiana’s iconic bayous—and yes, hopefully an alligator or two! The tour also includes a visit to the LSU Center for River Studies, home to the impressive Lower Mississippi River Physical Model, where you’ll explore river dynamics, sediment movement, and floodplain management along one of the world’s great river systems.
Along the way, enjoy a classic Louisiana lunch at Pat’s Fisherman’s Wharf, featuring fresh seafood and authentic Cajun cuisine. Equal parts educational, scenic, and just plain fun, this field tour weaves together forestry, water resources, culture, and camaraderie...all Louisiana style! Space is limited for this can't miss experience so don't delay, sign up today! Transportation, a continental breakfast, and lunch are included.
Join us to close out the conference in true Louisiana style at our Closing Party at Red Stick Social, Baton Rouge’s premier social house for food, drinks, and unforgettable fun. Set in a stylish space with a cool industrial vibe, this one-of-a-kind venue was designed to bring people together, featuring locally inspired fare, craft cocktails, and vibrant gathering areas perfect for celebrating new connections and longtime friendships.
We’ll have the bowling lanes reserved exclusively for our group, so lace up and challenge your colleagues while you enjoy great bites and refreshing beverages. Whether you’re networking between frames or simply soaking in the energetic atmosphere, this is your chance to unwind, connect, and end the conference on a high note.
Come hungry, bring your competitive spirit, and get ready for an evening of great food, cold drinks, friendly competition, and even better fellowship. You won’t want to miss it!
